Claudia Valenzuela has more than twenty-five years of experience working in external affairs, community relations, and government relations in San Diego and Baja California, Mexico. As a native San Diegan, she has extensive knowledge of regional issues with deep professional and personal relationships throughout the region.
Prior to joining LeSar Holdings, Claudia spent 18 years with Sempra and SDG&E. During her time with the Sempra family of companies, she worked as a company lobbyist, political action committee manager, and managed government affairs and public outreach efforts on various utility and municipal infrastructure projects throughout San Diego County. She has also worked in the California Legislature as Chief of Staff for a local State Assembly Member, as Senior Account Executive for a San Diego public affairs firm, and as a Public Affairs Manager for the San Diego Padres Baseball Club, working on Proposition C, the campaign for the downtown ballpark, now Petco Park.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish from the University of San Diego, and a Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law. She currently serves as a commissioner for the City of National City’s Planning Commission, where she resides with her family. She enjoys baseball, cooking, gardening, and exploring San Diego neighborhoods on foot.
