August 2026 marked a significant milestone for the Global Policy Leadership Academy (GPLA): its first year as an Accredited Provider of Continuing Education Units (CEUs), an esteemed recognition granted by the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET). If you have pursued higher education in your personal or professional journey, or are seeking additional certifications, you know the value of a vetted program.
Over the past year, GPLA has forged partnerships with Southern California organizations dedicated to excellence and quality, including The San Diego Housing Commission and The Center by Lendistry. These collaborations have helped build trust with the communities they serve and enhance their impact through accredited adult learning programs. While our participating partners have learned the anatomy of accreditation closely, we are eager to share more about this vital work and the opportunities it creates with our network.
What Is Accreditation?
IACET Accreditation formally recognizes that GPLA has established high standards of quality, rigor, and ongoing improvement in designing, developing, and delivering educational events. It provides validation that our policies and processes meet (and often exceed) industry-recognized criteria for excellence in adult learning.
One CEU equals 10 hours of organized instruction and planned interaction with instructional materials.
Beyond the designation, accreditation requires GPLA to demonstrate our commitment to delivering high-quality products and services through continuous feedback collection and an annual organizational effectiveness assessment.
Why Accreditation Matters
In today’s digitally dependent environment, organizations are increasingly expected to demonstrate transparency, effectiveness, and accountability. They must also find ways to stand out and to lift as they climb. Accreditation helps GPLA do exactly that.
Our partnership with IACET affords us and our partners:
- Credibility with clients, partners, funders, and stakeholders
- Structured frameworks for quality, rigor, and continuous improvement
- Clear standards and best practices across operations
- Professional development opportunities through webinars and conferences
- A permanent record of educational accomplishments that are recognized and accepted by a wide variety of boards, regulatory organizations, employers, etc.
Accreditation is a responsibility that creates valuable opportunities for organizational growth, positioning GPLA and its partners for long-term, tried-and-true success.
A Partnership for Success
At GPLA, implementing accreditation is a collaborative process built on a shared vision between partners. It transcends mere surveys, assessments, or checklists. Our focus is on transforming professional and workforce education by working closely with organizations seeking to offer elevated educational experiences. GPLA provides guidance, resources, and industry-standard infrastructure (i.e., in-house content development and private-label learning management system hosting) to help execute accreditation compliance and maximize stakeholder and participant satisfaction.
You don’t have to just take our word for it. In the coming months, we’ll be sharing stories, insights, and experiences from partner organizations that have successfully implemented accredited programs. We look forward to highlighting the impact of accreditation and showcasing a year of new relationships and continuous improvement.
